Biography

Dolphin is a multi-instrumentalist, producer, songwriter, singer/MC, who lives in Baltimore Maryland.  He was born in New York, in Kings County and has been making art ever since.  "I was the only musician in my family, so for me it was all about misunderstanding.  I think that's why to this day I really don't care what people think about my work, it's meant to affect the people it's meant to affect.  It's not 'industry' standard music, nor will it ever be.  It's music from a man through the guide of the most high and that is how it will always remain."  Dolphin began teaching himself at a young age different instruments to satisfy the 'void' he'd experienced.  "My family had a nice record collection, but they were limited.  I didn't have many friends so naturally music and the musicians who made the records became my closest friends.  Punk, Jazz, Rock, Funk, New Wave, all exposed me to the world and to ideas that had never crossed my limited vision.  These records mean more to me than music, they raised me and my view of the world.  During my High School years we lived in the South, which added to my seclusion and/or desire to hear new sounds and learn about new ways of thinking."

Dolphin first became known through global exposure on Benji B's Deviaton 1Xtra Show on the BBC.  From there he started doing music for various companies and websites, Akademiks, the clothing company ran his music on their website for what was supposed to be one month, yet ended up being almost two years.  From high end clothing companies like PRPSJeans of Japan or to lesser known companies out of New York and London to scoring short films like the art house favorite "Praxis" to documentaries, Dolphin started building a commercial base.

During the last 7 years Dolphin has been feverishly recording at home under several names: Dolphin, Ocean Aquanaut, the October Octopussy, GhostCat Strike!, the Magnetic Moves, MC Zuma, and Starry Eyes all while playing all the instruments himself and covering all ranges from Jazz to Rock to Hiphop.  "Being born in New York, hiphop was a given.  Same with Dancehall and various forms of world music.  I actually knew nothing about Jazz until I played bass in the jazz orchestra in high school.  I'd formed my third band there, playing lead guitar and keys with a full horn section and rhythm section. This opened my eyes, tremendously cause up until then I'd only been playing punk and rock.  Up until then, it was all funk, punk, rock, hiphop, metal and thrash."  This exposure to various forms of songwriting have led him to where he is today, one man making well over 50 albums of recordings in the last 7 years.  "Sometimes, all I wanna hear is hiphop.  So I'll make it.  Sometimes all I wanna hear are ballads, so I'll make them.  Sometimes all I wanna hear is hardcore punk/thrash, so I'll make it.  I'm very fortunate cause for me there is no governor on taste or output, that's why I created Wardolphin.com."

Wardolphin.com has become the home of all of Dolphin's various psuedonyms and music.  From remixes to re-edit sets, to live performances with his backing band The Airmath to albums and singles, Dolphin has allowed a direct connection between his core followers and himself.  "I'm a very grounded person, I don't believe in middle men or 'images' per se.  I believe that if you make a song, then the people should have access to it.  I created Wardolphin to provide myself the proper outlet needed to not only create, but to have an outlet after that creation is made.  For the artist that believes in art.  It is my belief that music can save us and heal us, that art can change us and lead us to peace and serenity.  That is why I chose the name Dolphin, the communicator between the waters and the land.  Dolphins are natural musicians, protectors of the sea.  They openly engage with all humans and the myths surrounding them only add to their legend.  Many believe they are more than mere mammals and they constantly live up to that reputation.  The more I learn about them, the more the parallels are drawn."
